Case study

Ongo Homes – Mock Inspection

Ongo Homes is a housing provider based in Scunthorpe, with more than 11,000 homes for rent and sale across Greater Lincolnshire, South Yorkshire and surrounding areas.

Objective

To provide an objective, external opinion on Ongo’s readiness for inspection by the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH).

What we did

DTP undertook a mock inspection, replicating the RSH’s methodology, which included:

  • website review.
  • document review.
  • observation of key meetings.
  • interviews with customer groups, executive and non-executive team members.
  • presentation of findings to the Board.

What we achieved

We produced an outcome report which validated areas of good practice and provided an evidence-based opinion on where improvements could be made. Our findings offered a clear, independent assessment of Ongo’s inspection readiness and supported the organisation in preparing for formal regulatory engagement.

DTP was appointed following a competitive tendering process to support Ongo’s preparation for regulatory inspection. Their team brought a high level of professionalism, deep sector knowledge, and up-to-date insight from recent regulatory judgements. Through a comprehensive ‘mock inspection’—including detailed document reviews and interviews with Board members and the Executive Team—DTP delivered an ‘inspection ready’ assessment of our position against the Regulator of Social Housing’s Governance, Financial Viability, and Consumer Standards. The resulting report and action plan provided clear, practical recommendations and valuable assurance to our Board on our readiness for future engagement with the regulator.
