ACH – Regulatory Compliance Review 2025

ACH is a UK non-profit social enterprise working to support refugees and migrants to build fulfilling lives in the UK.

ACH is a Registered Provider of Social Housing, providing supported housing, skills training and business support to help people rebuild their lives and reach their full potential.

Objective

DTP was commissioned by ACH to undertake a range of independent compliance assessments to provide assurance to its Board around compliance with:

  • The Regulator of Social Housing’s (RSH) Regulatory Standards (Economic and Consumer Standards)
  • The Housing Ombudsman’s Complaints Handling Code (Complaints Handling Code)
  • The NHF Code of Governance (Code of Governance)

What we did

We held a start-up meeting to take a wider brief from ACH, agree key contacts, information requirements (and sources) and required timescales for delivery of the review.

We provided ACH with a series of self-assessment templates which ACH completed and provided back to us along with accompanying evidence to demonstrate compliance across the different RSH Regulatory Standards, Complaints Handling Code and the Code of Governance, identifying any areas where there were gaps in evidence of compliance or where strengthening of compliance was required.

DTP then scrutinised the documents and supporting evidence and engaged with ACH colleagues to raise queries and areas of clarification. DTP also undertook an audit of compliance with the Rent Standard across the different categories of accommodation that ACH holds.

What we achieved

DTP produced a report for each individual area of work confirming our independent view of compliance, identifying areas of strength and where further work was required to improve evidencing of compliance. The reports were shared across ACH’s governance structure, firstly with Committees and then ACH’s Board.

Our review helped provide assurance to the governing body of ACH that the outcomes of the RSH’s regulatory standards were being delivered and that safe, quality homes and services were provided to ACH’s tenants.

DTP have been a pleasure to work with. As a small Registered Provider, they have taken us on a journey of learning, providing valuable and practical advice and support. Our Board have the external assurance they sought to evidence compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, including as a lease based provider, compliance with the Rent Standard.
